Yesterday, I had the opportunity to get the rhythm track down for song number 12 (Mother of Waters). Almost the end of summer, though. 🙁

DW Recording: Day 17
Writing about music is really boring. In the end, I guess these posts about recording Dream World are mostly for my reference…. Today I started recording again… but only got the rhythm track for the eleventh song down (Lonely Girl.) Almost got another rhythm part done… but I’ll probably just start over on that tomorrow.
In the meantime…
Wish I could have kept going at the same pace as before with the Dream World project… but things came up. I think I’m going to keep going with the guitar I used for the first album… and see how far I can keep using it.
Part of the reason things are taking a while is because I decided to switch out songs 11 and 12 (the first couple of songs on the second album.) They just weren’t contributing to the overall story that much… and I hope that the replacement songs fix that.
Work is going to start up soon, though… I’m just hoping to get as far as I can with the second album recording… and go from there. Kind of thinking about releasing the songs one by one… who even has time to listen to one song these days? haha…
DW Recording: Day 16
Started recording for the second album yesterday… but switching from a single-coil pickup to a humbucker is proving more difficult than I thought it would be. So this recording day really happened today… because the take(s) I recorded for the rhythm guitar were ultimately done today. But… I still don’t really feel that happy about how it’s turning out. And the guitar kills my back, haha.
Again, if this project is only for me… it’s pretty much all in vain. If this can’t be used for the Kingdom… it’s pretty much useless.
I think I might try raising the action of the guitar since I’m using 11 gauge strings. If that doesn’t help… I might just go back down to 10 gauge strings.
DW Recording: Day 15
Got the lead guitar tracks for the last song on the first album down, today. The song is Three Willows on the Dream album. Still trying to get one more album tracked before summer ends… maybe it will happen?
DW Recording: Day 14
It’s already been fourteen days of guitar recording… and I feel like this project is taking forever to complete. Today was another day of lead guitar recording… but it just didn’t happen for most of the afternoon. For some reason nothing was coming up for the arrangement. Out of ideas… and generally frustrated with myself. But, I believe the lead guitar is at least down for Winds of Change.
DW Recording: Day 13
Slow recording day–but had the opportunity to get lead guitar down for two more songs: Morning Sun and Photographs. Only two more songs to go (for lead guitar,) and it’s time to move on to the second album, I suppose.
DW Recording: Day 12
Had the opportunity to get the lead guitar parts down for three more songs, today. The lead parts are for Picnic Day, Little Secrets, and Black Lake. Originally, I wanted to limit this project to being made up of four basic parts: drums, bass, rhythm, and lead guitar. But as time goes by, I’m finding places (in these songs,) where I just want to add a few more parts… ha ha. I guess it doesn’t matter when I don’t plan on performing these songs in their album form, anyway.
DW Recording: Day 11
I think the lead guitar parts are pretty much done for the second (Purpose People) and third (Willow Green) songs in the Dream World series. Took most afternoon to get… but, I’m kind of liking how the effects are turning out. I have the feeling that only the first two albums (at best,) are going to be finished anytime soon. Really want to get it all done and over with, though. The past is over, anyway.
DW Recording: Day 10
Hmm, didn’t realize that a lead guitar part could take all day. I think the lead guitar part for the first song, Dream, is finished. Later on, I still need to adjust it a bit to fit the beat… but it’s recorded, at least. Playing around with Guitar Rig and finding some interesting watery-sounding delay effects to match the mood of the song. The overall musical goal is to make the song sound kind of like a dream.
Other than that, just got a couple of outlines done for the first two songs on the second album. Going back to acoustic guitar after electric is pretty terrible. I didn’t think it would come to this…
